Facing the mess, what's our leverage?

Facing the mess, what's our leverage?

We live in a mess:

💡
Climate crisis undeniably is the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced.
💡
Coping with climate crisis is attached to a set of vast challenges - including fighting racism, and poverty, rein in capitalism, deconstruct patriarchy, manage decolonization, keeping biodiversity, and empowering the global south.

We cannot afford to carry on. In our roles as facilitators, consultants and two middle-aged white men from Germany, we work on the inside of all this. As we accompany organizations during transformation processes, we witness and support systems, structures and decisions that seem to rather drive us deeper into this mess than out. Again and again, we asked ourselves,  "What's our leverage in doing something about this mess?". The honest answer is: "Hm, almost no clue!". This led us to where we are at right now. Besides and within our client projects, we intend to focus our energy more towards this question and the search for leverage. In the open. In dialogue. In exchange. In the hope to find answers. Together.

How can we leverage our skills, and networks best to do something about the mess? Looking to partners, clients and our broader network in general, we are sure: we are not alone with these questions. Maybe speaking them out loud is the first leverage we have. Connecting voices from the periphery with the center perhaps is another.

We start this learning journey not as experts, but as learners. As such we will make mistakes, irritate or annoy clients and activists, you and us. But without surprise and irritation, nothing new can ever evolve.

As Dandelion Spaces we will launch formats to openly share about this learning journey. The start is a newsletter - "weeds & seeds". You can subscribe here:
